September 21, 2023 (Spring Valley) - The Saps at Sea, the San Diego chapter of the Sons of the Desert, the Laurel & Hardy fan organization, present their October "Pre-Halloween Spectacular" meeting October 21 at Williams Hall at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Spring Valley.

The Saps will start the program with a rare Spook Show:  promos from the golden age of exploitation. Scary previews with Dracula and buddies are next. Next, a creepy cartoon makes its Saps premiere. Then Stan and Ollie work for a very mad scientist in the laugh-filled Dirty Work. As a bonus gem, Bela “Dracula” Lugosi turns magician and transforms a lovely assistant into a “?”. The special short is the very entertaining Pirate Party On Catalina Isle:  Errol Flynn & more stars all in gorgeous Technicolor.

After intermission, it's time for 3-D thrills (glasses provided). Then, the Saps world-famous raffle. Next the newly-restored Do Detectives Think? Judge Jimmy Finlayson sentences the Tipton Slasher to life. The Slasher breaks out, but it's okay. Detectives Stan and Ollie are hired to protect The Judge. Russ Peck returns to play live music for our silent treat. Come in costume for the costume contest.

Show starts at 6 p.m.  For more information, visit the Saps at Sea Facebook page.
