January 13, 2024 (Boise) - The Aztec women’s basketball team (11-7, 2-3) lost at Boise State (11-6, 2-2) 68-59 Saturday afternoon.

SDSU got in a big hole early but outplayed the Broncos in the second half and got within six points late in the game.

Kim Villalobos recorded her third double-double in the last four games, finishing with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Sarah Barcello also scored in double figures with 12 points with four three-pointers.

The Broncos were 9-for-12 from the field in the first quarter and at one point had a 17-2 run.

The Aztecs’ defense tightened up in the second quarter, but SDSU struggled to string together baskets.

SDSU outscored the Broncos 19-10 in the third quarter while holding Boise State to 3-for-13 shooting and pulled with 12 entering the fourth quarter.

The Aztecs cut their deficit to six points late in the game, but the Broncos were able to hold off SDSU by making 13 free throws in the fourth quarter.

SDSU had 13 offensive rebounds, tied for their most on the year.

Natalie Pasco led BSU with 15 points and Abby Muse finished with 16 rebounds.

After scoring 19 points in the first half, SDSU scored 40 in the second half.

The Aztecs host UNLV at 11 a.m. Wednesday for the Field Trip game.
