The Aztecs took eighth place out of 19 teams

October 24, 2023 (Boulder City, Nev.) - The Aztec women’s golf team took eighth place (out of 19 teams) at The Clash at Boulder Creek. SDSU’s tournament was highlighted by freshman Emma Narita who shot a five-under-par 211, the lowest 54-hole score by an Aztec since 2016.

Narita, who tied for 10th overall, had four birdies and just one bogey and finished with a three-under-par 69 in the final rounds Tuesday. She had just one bogey in her last two rounds. Her 211 (72-70-69) is the lowest by an Aztec freshman since 2013.

 

Anika Sato was second among Aztecs with a three-over-par 219. She shot a 75 in her first and final round with a 69, which tied a career-best, sandwiched in between.

 

Stephanie Barbaglia finished one stroke behind Sato and Andrea Gomez was one stroke behind Barbaglia. Barbaglia had a one-over-par 73 Tuesday with three birdies and four bogeys.

 

Gomez overcame a stretch of three straight bogeys to shoot a 75. She tied for 48th overall with a 221.

 

Anna Lina Otten had her best round of the tournament with a 75.

 

Long Beach State won the championship after shooting an 839 (-25). San Francisco’s Riana Mission was the individual champion with an 11-under-par 205.

 

STAT OF THE DAY

Emma Narita’s 211 was the lowest score by an Aztec since 2016 (Emma Henrikson) and lowest by a freshman since 2013 (Sirene Blair).

 

UP NEXT

The Aztecs are done for the fall season and won’t be in action again until Feb. 12 when they host the San Diego State Classic.
