February 27, 2014 (San Diego) -- Sempra Energy, parent company of SDG&E and SoCal Gas, reports a billion dollars in earnings for 2013, up from $813 million the prior year. For shareholders, that means earnings of $4.01 per diluted share.

SDG&E’s earnings were down slightly, however, to $404 million from  $484 million back in 2012 due largely to costs associated with closing down the San Onofre nuclear power plants generators.
