February 19, 2024 (El Cajon) – A convicted sex offender, Michael Inman, was convicted Wednesday on four felony sex offenses including sex with a 16-year-old girl at a Motel 6 on Montrose Court in El Cajon. His co-defendant, Larry Cantrell, pleaded guilty last month to several sexual offenses.

Cantrell, who was homeless, was wearing a GPS ankle monitor when he was placed in the motel, as ECM previously reported. Police were tipped off by an employee of People Assisting the Homeless (PATH), who called El Cajon Police Department to report suspicious circumstances involving their client, Cantrell, who had previously been convicted of child pornography.

Police found a video on each man’s cell phone showing Inman engaged in sex with the underage girl, 10 News reports.

Both men had initially claimed they believed the girl was 18, the legal age for consent in California.

At the time of the men’s arrest, El Cajon sent out a press release asking for public help to identify any other potential victims of the convicted sex offenders.
