SPRING VALLEY ARSON SUSPECT SOUGHT

April 10, 2024 (Spring Valley) – The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department is seeking Sean Arkward, 54, for suspicion of setting fire to an occupied home in Spring Valley.
 
After receiving a call on April 9 around 7:35 p.m. from a resident reporting that their house was on fire in the 900 block of Sacramento Avenue in Spring Valley, Deputies from the Rancho San Diego Sheriff's Station along with the San Miguel Fire Department responded to the location. Units arrived within minutes and found several small fires throughout several rooms in the home.

 
The people inside the home were safely evacuated. One person was medically evaluated on scene for minor burns and smoke inhalation.
 
Detectives from the Sheriff's Bomb/Arson Unit were called to the scene to investigate the origin and cause of the fire. The fire was determined to have started inside a bedroom of the residence. The cause of the fire was determined to be arson.
 
Detectives identified Arkward as the suspect believed to have started the fire, but patrol deputies were unable to locate him.
 
He is 54 years old, black with brown eyes and short black hair, 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighing approximately 220 pounds.
 
Arkward is wanted for arrest for unlawfully and recklessly causing a fire to an inhabited structure.
