January 18, 2024 (El Cajon) -- A woman is behind bars on suspicion of starting a fire on January 11 at an apartment complex on E. Bradley Ave. in unincorporated El Cajon. The fire engulfed 14 garages at the complex.

After the Sheriff asked public help to locate the suspect, who was reportedly homeless, a caller on January 14 provided information about the whereabouts of Mavis Williams, 43.

A deputy from the Lakeside Sheriff's Substation responded to the 700 block of E. Bradley Avenue in unincorporated El Cajon where he found Williams. She was taken into custody without any incident, says Detective Dan Wilson.

Williams was booked into the Las Colinas Detention and Reentry Facility on charges of recklessly causing a fire.

The Sheriff's Department, Lakeside Sheriff's Substation, Sheriff's Bomb/Arson Unit and San Diego County Crime Stoppers thanks the public and media for their assistance and cooperation.
