June 1, 2012 (San Diego) -- San Diego Police Department detectives from the Southeastern Division are working in conjunction with members of the San Diego Unified School District Police Department to investigate a series of abduction attempts that occurred earlier this month in the Mountain View area.

Since mid-May, four girls, ages 10 and 11 years, were followed as they walked home from Emerson Elementary School.

In each case, the suspect followed the girls in his car and then drove up next to them and offered them a ride.  The girls all declined and the suspect offered money to get in his car.  When the girls again declined, he yelled, “Get in the car now!”  The girls ran away and were unharmed.  In one case, the suspect followed the girl to her yard.

The suspect is described as a white or Hispanic male in his fifties.  He has short, graying (“salt and pepper”) hair, a white beard with a slightly darker mustache, wrinkles around his eyes and a thin face with prominent cheekbones.  He was driving a shiny red car, possibly a Mercedes four-door, with tinted rear windows and damage to the right front area of the car.

Anyone with information concerning these attempted abductions is asked to contact the San Diego Police Department’s Southeastern Division at (619) 527-3500 or San Diego County Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
