February 11, 2015 (Washington D.C.)--A group calling itself the Cyber Caliphate hacked into Twitter accounts in the U.S. on Tuesday, issuing threats against first lady Michelle Obama, the President’s children, and American military spouses.

Cyber Caliphate is the same name used by hackers who infiltrated U.S. Central Command’s social media accounts last month, claimed credit for the latest threats.

Now the group has hacked into Newsweek’s Twitter account.  The Cyber Caliphate issued a threat through  a Tweet using Newsweek’s account which read, “Bloody Valentine’s Day MichelleObama! We’re watching you, your girls and your husband.”

Newsweek confirmed the hack on its website. “We can confirm that Newsweek’s Twitter account was hacked this morning, and have since regained control of the account,” Newsweek managing editor Kira Bindrim said in a statement. The hack also included an image of a masked jihadist with an Islamic state flag.  The offensive post has since been deleted.

Several tweets were also reportedly sent through a Twitter account owned by the spouse of a U.S. Marine who runs a nonprofit that advocates on behalf of military spouses.  The Hill reports that ne tweet warned that the group is waging a Cyber Jihad. Another threatened, “"While your president and your husband are killing our brothers in Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan we're coming for you.”

Other tweets warned of an ISIS presence in the U.S.  Most ominously, one message claimed, “"We know everything about you, your husband and your children and we're much closer than you can even imagine. You'll see no mercy infidel!"
