October 22, 2012 (Alpine) – A U.S. Navy veteran planning to retire soon hit a jackpot worth $501,430.49 on a Wheel of Fortune slot machine at Viejas Casino.
The winner, who is from San Diego, chose to remain anonymous. He hit the early-retirement jackpot while playing a $1 Wheel of Fortune progressive slot machine on Saturday morning, October 13, at Viejas Casino.
The lucky veteran is a V Club member who said that he has six months until his scheduled retirement from the service. He had been playing on another slot machine – one of his favorites –but spotted the Wheel of Fortune slot machine when he got a bottle of water from a server...and decided to try his luck. It didn’t take long before he hit the big jackpot and his retirement nest egg instantly grew by over a half-million dollars.
“We’ve had other active and retired members of the military hit big jackpots and it always adds even more excitement to the casino floor because we have a special place in our hearts for our military guests,” said Viejas Casino General Manager Chris Kelley.
