November 13, 2014 (Deerhorn Valley) – A vehicle with flashing blue and white lights and religious stickers has reportedly been impersonating an emergency vehicle on East County roadways.

The Deerhorn Valley antler reports, “There is an apparently "disturbed" individual that drives Honey Springs Rd at night, comes behind unsuspecting drivers and flashes bright official-looking lights (blue and white).  Then he follows the driver, refusing to pass, even when the driver being followed slows way down. One woman finally pulled over because she thought it might be Border Patrol.  It was very dark, and she didn't realize she stopped right at the ledge of steep dropoff. She was frightened and angry, with both of her kids in the car.”

According to the Antler, the car has numerous religious stickers including one reading “Got Jesus?”

Impersonating an emergency vehicle is illegal under California law and both California Highway Patrol and the Sheriff’s Department have been notified. If you see this vehicle, please call 911 or report it to the Sheriff at (619)565-5200 or CHP at 858-637-3800.

If you see flashing lights behind you in an isolated area, call 911 and ask them to verify if this is a legitimate officer behind you or not.  If in doubt, drive to a well-lit area where there are other people around before pulling over.
