WINNERS IN MISSION TRAILS PHOTO CONTEST ANNOUNCED

June 5, 2011 (San Diego) – Winners in the 19th annual Amateur Photography Contest sponsored by Mission Trails Regional Park have been announced.

 

Verland Nolta received the Leonard Butterman Best of Show Award for “Old Mission Dam Moon Light.” The award is presented in memory of Leonard Butterman, an avid amateur photographer for seven decades. The Peoples Choice award was presented to Janice Wright for “New Years Day Evening” taken at the Visitor and Interpretive Center.  First place winners for color photography included Jean Eichenlaub in the Scenic Views category, Cheryl Oold in the People, Flora and Fauna category. William Fossett earned first place for Black and White photography, while David Satoda took first place honors in the Youth category.

The public is also invited to SummerFest at Mission Trails on Sunday, June 26th, benefitting East County Magazine and Chefs de Cuisine nonprofit organizations. The event features a gourmet feast cooked up by top San Diego chefs, wine-tasting, stargazing, a pre-event hike, opportunity prize drawing and silent auction, live music including classical, blues and Native American flutes, museum tours, wildlife visits, and a preview of the new East County Guide.
