September 9, 2023 (Houston) - The Padres got a nice win yesterday in Houston.  They tried to take the series today with Seth Lugo on the mound against Christian Javier for the Astros.

Yordan Alvarez struck again with a towering solo homer in the third, but Luis Campusano saved the day in the fourth with a falling single to center that scored Juan Soto.  Jurickson Profar welcomed himself back to San Diego with a two-run blast just inside the right foul pole.  Trent Grisham doubled to right to score Matthew Batten.  Jose Abreu scored on a fielder’s choice in the bottom of the fourth and the Padres led 4-2 after four.

Alvarez kept the Stros close with an automatic double in the fifth that scored Jose Altuve and so did Kyle Tucker.  His scored two.  Abreu singled to score Tucker.  Martin Maldonado lined a single to left that scored Abreu and the Astros led 7-4 after five.

The Padres kept trying.  Batten singled on a line drive to right in the sixth to score Campusano, but the Astros evened the series with a 7-5 win.
