June 25, 2023 (San Diego) - The Padres and Nats both went for the series win today.  Ex-Padre MacKenzie Gore started for Washington against Seth Lugo.

Jeimer Candelario did what he did last night; hit a solo homer and the Nats led 1-0 after one.

The Padres, finally, shockingly, tied the game in the fifth with an RBI line drive single to right from Fernando Tatis Jr. that scored Trent Grisham and we were tied at one after five.

But the Nats regained the lead next inning as Joey Meneses singled to center to score Luis Garcia.  Stone Garrett flied into a sac double play that scored Candelario and the Nationals led 3-1 after six.

Lane Thomas added on with a single up the middle in the seventh that scored Derek Hill.  With the bases loaded, Candelario hit a two-RBI double to left.  Joey Meneses doubled to score another two.  Ha-Seong Kim hit a towering solo homer to left in the bottom of the seventh.  Juan Soto hit an RBI single in the ninth, but the Nats stoned the Padres and took the series with an 8-3 win.
