April 6, 2023 (Atlanta) - The Padres took their first road trip of the season to Atlanta this weekend for four days.  Blake Snell started tonight’s game one against Spencer Strider for the Braves.

Austin Riley hit a sac fly in the first that scored Ronald Acuña Jr. and Orlando Arcia hit a solo homer in the third.  Both were erased by a three-run blast by Matt Carpenter in the fourth that gave the Padres the lead.  THAT was erased by Kevin Pillar’s single in the home half of the fourth that scored Sean Murphy.  With the bases loaded, Matt Olson walked to score Pillar from third and the Braves led 4-3 after four.

Jake Cronenworth luckily tied the game with his first homer of the season in the sixth to tie the game at four after six.

Xander Bogaerts scored on a wild pitch in the eighth and Jose Azocar singled to score Cronenworth, but the Braves rallied in the home half.  Olson singled to score Arcia, Travis D’Arnaud singled to score Olson and in the ninth, Arcia put the finishing touches on with a single that scored Eddie Rosario and the Braves took game one 7-6.
