June 21, 2023 (San Francisco) - The Padres have been walked off twice.  That’s a whole new level of Padres’ing.  But there was still time for a split.  Yu Darvish started game three tonight against Ryan Walker for the Giants.

The Giants took the lead first in the fifth on Brandon Crawford’s sac fly that scored Luis Matos.  Joc Pederson singled to score Blake Sabol.  Mike Yastrzemski singled to score David Villar.  J.D. Davis singled to score Pederson and the Giants led 4-0 after five.

Trent Grisham put the Padres on the board in the seventh with a golfed RBI single to right center that scored Ha-Seong Kim and the Giants led 4-1 after seven.

Jake Cronenworth cut the lead in half with a sac fly in the eighth that scored Juan Soto, but the Giants remained strong and took the series with a 4-2 win.

A fourth game can never be a "rubber game.

A rubber game can only occur in a series with an odd number of games. The term is used to describe a game that breaks a tie in a series of games. A four game seies has no rubber game in that the series could end in a tie.
