September 24, 2023 (San Diego) - Both the Padres and Cardinals went for the series today. Drew Rom started for the Redbirds against Michael Wacha.
Juan Soto blasted a three-run homer in the first to give the Padres a 3-0 lead after one.
Xander Bogaerts tripled in the second to score Eguy Rosario. Bogaerts scored on an error and the Padres led 5-0 after two.
Matthew Batten singled in the third to score Fernando Tatis Jr. and the Padres led 6-0 after three.
Soto doubled in the fourth to score Ha-Seong Kim and Tatis Jr. singled to score Soto and the Padres led 8-0 after four.
Jose Azocar hit a solo homer in the fifth and the Padres led 9-0 after five.
Garrett Cooper joined in with a single in the sixth to score Tatis Jr., Rosario doubled to score two and the Padres led a whopping 12-0 after six.
Luken Baker put the Redbirds on the board with a two-run homer in the seventh, but the Padres staged a big game to take the series with a 12-2 win.
