ECM PADRES REPORT: PADRES AGAIN CAN'T GET SWEEP IN DETROIT

July 23, 2023 (Detroit) - The Padres went for the sweep this morning in Detroit.  Grossmont High alum Joe Musgrove started against Alex Faedo for the Tigers.

Spencer Torkelson started things off with a solo homer and the Tigers led 1-0 after one.

 
Andy Ibanez hit a solo homer in the third and Kerry Carpenter singled to score Riley Greene and the Tigers led 3-0 after three.
 
Gary Sanchez lined a single to right to score Xander Bogaerts in the seventh, but the Tigers hung on to avoid the sweep with a 3-1 win.
 
UP NEXT
 
The Padres return home, where the Pirates are waiting for them.  Game one on Monday is at 6:40 p.m.  A pitcher to be named starts for Pittsburgh against Yu Darvish.
