September 5, 2023 (San Diego) - After being dropped on Labor Day, more bad news awaited the Padres:  they got to face the Phillies’ no-hitter owner, Michael Lorenzen, today.  Fun.  Pedro Avila started.

Lorenzen was dealing until the fourth when Fernando Tatis Jr. destroyed a ball to deep left and Luis Campusano doubled.  One run scored on the fielder’s choice double and another on an error and the Padres led 3-0 after four.

Xander Bogaerts singled in the sixth to score Tatis Jr. and Campusano singled to score two.  Bogaerts scored and the Padres extended their lead to 7-0 after six.

Matt Carpenter hit a sac fly to score Bogaerts in the eighth and the Padres rebounded nicely with an 8-0 win.
