July 5, 2023 (San Diego) - The Padres, believe it or not, have the chance to sweep a series.  Patrick Sandoval started for the Angels against Seth Lugo.

Fernando Tatis Jr. scored on an error in the first, but in the second, Luis Rengifo singled to score Hunter Renfroe and in the third, Jo Adell doubled to score Mickey Moniak and the Angels took the lead, but Manny Machado singled in the home half to score Ha-Seong Kim and we were tied at three after three.

Machado hit a solo homer in the sixth and the Padres led 3-2 after six.

But the Angels tied it in the seventh on the first swing by Matt Thaiss and Tatis Jr. reclaimed the lead in the home half when he scored on a fielder’s choice by Xander Bogaerts.  One more run sealed the series sweep for the Padres with a 5-3 win.
