ECM PADRES REPORT: PADRES GET HUGE WIN IN HOUSTON

September 8, 2023 (Houston) - The Padres begin a tough road trip starting in Houston.  Blake Snell started tonight’s game one against Hunter Brown for the Astros.

Yordan Alvarez singled in the first to score Jeremy Peña and the Stros led 1-0 after one.
 
But Luis Campusano singled in the second to score Manny Machado.  Trent Grisham singled to score Campusano, Ha-Seong Kim singled to score two and Xander Bogaerts homered in the third.  Juan Soto doubled to score Kim in the fifth and the Padres led 6-1 after five.
 
José Abreu doubled in the sixth to score Alvarez and the Padres led 6-2 after six.
 
Machado doubled to score two in the seventh and the Padres led 8-2 after seven.
 
Grisham blasted a three-run homer in the eighth and the Padres shockingly won a game one against a tough team with a big score of 11-2.
 
UP NEXT
 
Game two is tomorrow at 4:10 p.m.  Seth Lugo starts against Cristian Javier for Houston.
