ECM PADRES REPORT: PADRES JUMP IN FRONT AND GET WIN IN ATLANTA

April 7, 2023 (Atlanta) - The Padres and Braves are lucky enough to get the first free Apple TV+ game of the season tonight for game two of their series.  Nick Martinez started against Jared Shuster for Atlanta.

Nelson Cruz doubled in the first to score Juan Soto.  Austin Nola walked with bases loaded to score Manny Machado.  Cruz singled in the second to score Jose Azocar and the Padres led 3-0 after two.

 
Marcell Ozuna put the Braves on the board with a solo homer in the third.  Austin Riley singled to score Ronald Acuña Jr. and Matt Olson scored on a wild pitch and we were tied at three after three.
 
Jake Cronenworth hit a sac fly in the fifth to score Machado and regain the lead for the Padres, but with the bases loaded in the home half, Sean Murphy walked to score Acuna Jr. and we were tied at four after five.
 
Xander Bogaerts saved the day again with a single in the sixth that scored Trent Grisham and the Padres held on to win 5-4 and even the series.

Game three is tomorrow at 4:20 p.m. and can also be seen on MLB Network.  Michael Wacha starts against Charlie Morton for the Braves.
