July 22, 2023 (Detroit) - The Padres avoided disaster yesterday with a one-run win over the Tigers.  They tried to take the series today with new Padre Jackson Wolf on the mound against Matt Manning for Detroit.

The Tigers struck first.  Jake Rogers doubled in the second to score Zach McKinstry.  Zack Short singled to score two and the Tigers led 3-0 after two.

But the Padres roared back.  Juan Soto doubled in the third to score Trent Grisham and Manny Machado blasted a three-run homer to put the Friars in the lead.  Fernando Tatis Jr. doubled in the fourth, Luis Campusano singled in the fifth, Grisham hit a sac fly, Soto hit a two-RBI single and Ha-Seong Kim homered and the seventh and the Padres roared to an 11-3 lead after seven.

Campusano blasted a three-run homer in the eighth and the Padres stumped the Tigers with a 14-3 series win.
