July 1, 2023 (Cincinnati) - The Padres are beginning July…. yeah.  Let’s just jump into today’s game.  Michael Wacha started against Brandon Williamson for the Reds.

It started positively.  Fernando Tatis Jr. doubled and scored Trent Grisham, but Matt McClain doubled in the third to score Tyler Stephenson and we were tied at one after three.

Juan Soto broke the tie in the sixth with his 15th homer of the season with a three-run homer and Manny Machado followed it up with his 10th and the Padres led 5-1 after six.

The seventh was big. Grisham hit an RBI triple that scored Jake Cronenworth.  Grisham scored, Fernando Tatis Jr. singled to score Ha-Seong Kim and Machado blasted a two-run homer.  Jonathan India kept the Reds close with a grand slam and the Padres led 10-5 after seven.

Tatis Jr. and Soto hit sac flies the eighth to center and left to score Grisham and Austin Nola and the Padres stormed back to even the series with a 12-5 win.
