ECM PADRES REPORT: PADRES TAKE GAME ONE IN MOTOR CITY

July 21, 2023 (Detroit) - After a good series in Canada, the Padres came back to America for a weekend in Detroit.  Seth Lugo started against Reese Olson for the Tigers.

The Padres got started right away. Juan Soto hit a solo homer and Jake Cronenworth hit a two-RBI triple in the first and the Padres led 3-0 after one.

 
Soto demolished another two-run homer in the third and the Padres led 5-0 after three.
 
Zack McKinstry hit a solo homer in the fifth and the Padres led 5-1 after five.
 
In the sixth, the Tigers got closer.  Nick Maton hit a sac fly to score Javy Baez and in the seventh, Riley Greene blasted a two-run homer, but the Padres held on to take game one 5-4.
 
UP NEXT
 
Game two tomorrow is at 3:10 p.m.  A pitcher to be named starts against Matt Manning for the Tigers.
