September 17, 2023 (Oakland) - The Padres have the opportunity to sweep a struggling team today. Nick Martinez started against Joe Boyle for the Athletics.
The Padres dominated this one. Luis Campusano singled in the fourth to score Manny Machado, Eguy Rosario singled to score Xander Bogaerts and Matthew Batten singled in the six to score two and the Padres led 4-0 after six.
Juan Soto belted a two-run homer in the seventh and the Padres led 6-0 after seven. He mashed a grand slam in the eighth to left and the Padres destroyed the As 10-1, marred only by a solo homer in the eighth by Brent Rooker. The Padres have four consecutive wins for the first time this season.
