June 21, 2024 (El Cajon) — Home of Guiding Hands, a nonprofit organization that provides quality support for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, is excited to announce the opening of their first medical home, Pine House. This revolutionary establishment marks a significant milestone in providing comprehensive care and fostering independence for their clients with complex medical needs.
Pine House boasts over 2,000 square feet of newly renovated and fully accessible living space in El Cajon. With a capacity to accommodate four clients, this house provides the opportunity for individuals to live independently outside of their family homes and serves as an alternative to traditional skilled nursing facilities.
Pine House is equipped to address medical needs such as feeding tubes, colostomy bags, diabetes management and care, breathing treatments (including oxygen administration), and more. By delivering specialized care within the comforting setting of the Home of Guiding Hands family, Pine House ensures that clients can thrive in an environment that prioritizes both their health and autonomy.

“All the [resident] families had given up hope that their children would be able to gain this independence and are extremely grateful that we have opened this type of home” -Rhea Tabler-Administrator of Pine House
