September 23, 2016 (San Diego) - After not being able to finish the job last night, the Padres tried again tonight with Edwin Jackson on the mound against Albert Suarez.

The Padres didn't let the game go to the eighth inning before a run was scored tonight.  Wil Myers blasted a three-run homer in the first to give the good guys a 3-0 lead.

The Giants crept back in the fifth with Buster Posey’s double that scored Denard Span and Angel Pagan and the Padres’ lead was narrowed to 3-2.

That wasn’t an issue, though.  In the Padres’ half in the fifth, the bases were loaded and Ryan Schimpf walked and the Padres got out ahead by two, 4-2.  Alex Dickerson singled to score Carlos Asuaje and Wil Myers and the Padres got past three and extended their lead to four runs, 6-2.  Schimpf himself came home and the score was 7-2.  That was more than enough as the Padres take game two and the series is even at one apiece.

Game three is two hours earlier tomorrow night at 5:40. Jarred Cosart will be on the mound for the Padres against Madison Bumgarner.
