April 9, 2023 (Atlanta) - The Padres and the Braves played their series finale on this Easter Sunday on Sunday Night Baseball. Seth Lugo started against Dylan Dodd for Atlanta.
The Padres broke the ice with back to back doubles by Jake Cronenworth and Ha-Seong Kim in the second. Kim’s double scored Cronenworth and the Padres led 1-0 after two.
Nelson Cruz demolished a ball to left in the third, good for three runs and the Padres led 4-0 after three.
Trent Grisham hit a solo homer in the fourth and the Padres led 5-0 after four.
Cruz added more in the fifth with a double that scored Juan Soto. Kim blasted a two-run homer. The Braves finally got on the board in the home half of the fifth when Ronald Acuna Jr. grounded into a fielder’s choice that scored Orlando Arcia and the Padres led 8-1 after five.
Cruz struck again with an RBI single up the middle in the sixth to get the Padres into double digits and the Padres led 10-1 after six.
Matt Olson singled in the seventh to score Arcia, but the Padres had a stellar game and won the series soundly in the South with a 10-2 win.

The Padres go up north to start the new week in Queens with three games against the Mets. Game one tomorrow is at 4:10 p.m. and can also be seen on MLB Network. A great pitching matchup awaits in Yu Darvish against Max Scherzer for New York.
