March 2, 2017 (Crest) -- Local hiking enthusiast Dana Law will share his adventures on and tips for hiking the legendary Pacific Crest Trail at a special presentation on March 21st at 6 pm with Crest Library patrons

March 8, 2015 (San Diego’s East County)--Garnet Peak is a fun and easy hike with spectacular views. The amazing part about this hike is the amount of payoff for how short the hike really is. An “out and back” that is 4.4 miles long (roundtrip) with most of it along the beautiful Pacific Crest Trail. In this compact hike one experiences a picturesque summit overlooking the Anza Borrego desert, Imperial Valley, and on clear days even the Salton Sea.

TRAINING TURNS TO REAL-LIFE RESCUE FOR SHERIFF'S VOLUNTEERS

 

August 18, 2014 (San Diego) - San Diego County Sheriff's Search and Rescue, or SAR volunteers got to test their newly acquired skills after a training session turned into a real-life rescue. The crew-in-training hoisted a pilot, who crashed his hang glider near Mount Laguna, back to safety.
