July 7, 2016 (Los Angeles) - After (finally!) a series win against the Diamondbacks, the Padres traveled back to California to take on the NL West rival Dodgers in a four-game series before the All-Star break.  Drew Pomeranz started for San Diego against the recently activated Hyun-Jin Ryu for the Dodgers.

The Padres got things started in the first with Melvin Upton Jr.’s solo homer to get a 1-0 lead.  The hits kept coming with Drew Pomeranz’s single that drove in Alex Dickerson to make the score 2-0.

Alexei Ramirez doubled in the fourth, scoring Derek Norris and the Padres went ahead 3-0.

Yangervis Solarte added another double in the fifth, scoring Matt Kemp and the Padres pulled ahead of the slumping Dodgers 4-0.  Dickerson tripled, scoring two and the Padres went up 6-0 in a much better showing than that Opening Day debacle.  They did so well that they carried that shutout to the end and a victory on Andy Green’s 39th birthday.

The Padres and Dodgers will play a 7:10 p.m. game again tomorrow.

In other Padres news, 2016 All-Star ambassador Wil Myers will be the number six seed in Tuesday's Home Run Derby.
