August 17, 2016 (Tampa Bay) - After a miserable game last night, the Padres woke up with the prospect of a new day and a new game.  Christian Friedrich started on the mound against the ace of the Rays’ staff, Chris Archer.

Right away, the Padres got hurt by the long ball once more.  Brad Miller smashed a two-run homer in the first to give the Rays a 2-0 lead.  The slaughter wasn’t as bad as last night, but it would be enough as the Rays sweep the Padres in three games.

The Padres come home on Thursday for a four game series against the Diamondbacks at 7:10 p.m.  Paul Clemens will start for the Padres.
