Aztecs improve to 27-11 overall and 11-4 in Mountain West play

April 15, 2023 (Reno) - The San Diego State softball team cruised past Nevada, 10-1, in six innings in the first game of a weekend series Saturday afternoon at Christina M. Hixson Softball Park in Reno, Nevada. The Aztecs (27-11, 11-4 MW) have won 11 of their last 12 games.
SDSU outhit the Wolf Pack (25-11, 6-6 MW), 13-3, for the game, scoring the first four runs and then the final six against a team that came into the contest leading the league with a 2.28 ERA.
Five San Diego State players had two hits apiece, highlighted by Makena Brocki and Cali Decker. Brocki was 2-for-3 with four RBIs, a run and a triple, while Decker hit her second home run of the season, had three RBIs with a run and a walk.
AJ Murphy added a pair of doubles, Mac Barbara was 2-for-3 with a run and an intentional walk, and Macey Keester was 2-for-3 with a run and two stolen bases.
Jillian Celis hit her fourth home run of the season and Jeweliana Perez reached base twice with a single and a walk.
The offense was plenty for duo of Sarah Lehman and Dee Dee Hernandez. Lehman got the start and allowed one run on one hit and three walks over 3 1/3 innings, striking out five. Hernandez (5-2) picked up the win after yielding two hits and no walks in 1 2/3 scoreless innings of relief, while striking out three.
THE NOTE
Over the last 12 games where the Aztecs are 11-1, SDSU is outscoring the opposition, 80-30, with a 10-1 record against league foes.
THE NOTE II
San Diego State picked up its fifth run-rule victory of the season and third in MW play. The Aztecs have not been run-ruled this year.

SDSU won its 69th consecutive game when scoring at least 10 runs.
