NIGHT OUT TO FIGHT CRIME: AUGUST 6 AT THESE SHERIFF STATIONS

August 1, 2019 (San Diego) -- National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer. Millions of neighbors take part in National Night Out across thousands of communities from all fifty states, U.S. territories and military bases worldwide on the first Tuesday in August—including a dozen locations in San Diego County.

You can come meet deputies who patrol your neighborhoods, learn about services the Sheriff’s department provides, and get crime prevention safety tips. You can also explore Sheriff’s programs such as senior volunteers, home vacation checks, the You Are Not Alone program for homebound seniors and the disabled, and Jr. Explorers. Visitors may also meet McGruff “The Crime Dog” and view a Sheriff’s K-9 demo. The events also offer free food and drinks, giveaways and a bicycle raffle at some locations.

RANCHO SAN DIEGO COMMAND CELEBRATES NATIONAL NIGHT OUT AGAINST CRIME

 

 

Captain Garmo speaks out on community outreach, police brutality and immigration

August 7, 2017 (Rancho San Diego) -- Cities across San Diego celebrated the National Night Out Against Crime on Tuesday, Aug. 1st. The Rancho San Diego Command hosted an event in the Target parking lot, where community members and police officers grilled hot dogs and visited booths. The National Night Out Against Crime is part of the wider public outreach strategy utilized by the RSD Command.



“We’re really involved in community policing. We take a lot of pride in doing a lot of outreach through faith-based and through community groups,” said Captain Marco Garmo. “Community outreach is so, so important. It’s just as important as putting bad guys in jail. They hold equal ground. We have to put resources towards it.”

July 27, 2017 (San Diego's East County) - National Night Out Against Crime© is on Tuesday, August 1st. The Sheriff’s Department is inviting the public to a dozen different events all over the county, including East County events in Alpine, Lemon Grove, Ramona, Rancho San Diego, and Santee. 

Night Out Against Crime© is a celebration of community relationships. Meet deputies who patrol your neighborhoods, learn about the many services the Sheriff’s Department provides, get crime prevention tips, giveaways at some locations, and other ways you can stay safe. Activities vary by location.

EL CAJON, LA MESA POLICE DEPARTMENTS TO PARTICIPATE IN NATIONAL NIGHT OUT AGAINST CRIME ON AUGUST 6

 

August 1, 2013 (San Diego's East County) – On Tuesday, August 6, the El Cajon Police Department will be holding a National Night Out community event in the parking lot of the El Cajon Police Station located at 100 Civic Center Way from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.  Enjoy a wide variety of booths and displays from numerous organizations offering health and safety information with a special emphasis on ways you can better protect your family, your home and your vehicle.  Emergency vehicles will be on display and there will be a K-9 demonstration. NATIONAL NIGHT OUT AGAINST CRIME AT THE KROC CENTER AUGUST 7

July 28, 2012 (San Diego) – The 29th Annual National Night Out Against Crime will be held at The Salvation Army Kroc Center, Recreation Field, 6845 University Ave., San Diego on August 7 form 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  The event features live entertainment, including an interactive Self Defense Demonstration, a chance to meet local police and law enforcement officers, free snacks, giveaways, finger-painting, games, community booths and more.

SANTEE SHERIFF STATION TO TAKE PART IN AMERICA’S “NIGHT OUT AGAINST CRIME” AUG. 2

July 30, 2011 (Santee) – Santee’s Sheriff Station will be among law enforcement outlets nationwide to participate in National Night Out, America’s Night Out Against Crime on August 2 from 5-7 p.m. Activities include block parties, cookouts, a neighborhood walk, safety fairs, child fingerprinting, raffles, free shredding, free disposal of expired or unwanted prescription drugs, games, entertainment and more.
