ALL VISITORS TO U.S. MUST NOW SHOW PROOF OF VACCINATION AT BORDER, INCLUDING THOSE TRAVELING FOR ESSENTIAL REASONS

January 21, 2022 (San Diego) – Starting tomorrow, all people entering the U.S. at the Mexican or Canadian borders must be fully vaccinated, except for U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents and U.S. nationals.  The new requirement will apply to both essential and non-essential travelers, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security announced.

BORDER WALL BIDS TO BE ACCEPTED MARCH 4-10

February 26, 2017 (San Diego) -- President Donald Trump is pushing forward with plans to fast-track building a wall along the 2,000-mile-long U.S.-Mexico border.

On Friday, The U.S. Customs and Border Protection announced that it will begin accepting bids on March 6th to build the wall and will allow only four days for contractors to submit their concept papers and build prototypes due March 10th.

GAS PRICE PROTESTS ACROSS MEXICO FORCED BORDER CROSSING CLOSURE

January 10, 2017 (San Diego) –  Protests have erupted across Mexico over a 20 percent hike in gas prices due to deregulation ordered by President Peña Nieto. Though cost of a gallon of gasoline is now about $3.50-- nearly as much as a day’s wages (about $4 at a minimum wage job), fueling outrage among impoverished Mexicans.

NEW SAN YSIDRO TO TIJUANA BORDER ENTRY OPENS

November 3, 2012 (Tijuana) -- On November 1, 2012, the new border crossing from San Ysidro to Tijuana began operations. The crossing, known as El Chaparral, will have 22 lanes equipped with the latest technology for fast access to Mexico.

Vehicles headed southbound on I-5 will turn right once they reach the border onto the modern facilities which create a more convenient crossing into Tijuana and other locations.

SR 905 TO OPEN TO TRAFFIC

 
New Freeway Will Ease Flow of Commerce from/to Otay Mesa Border Crossing
 
July 19, 2012 (Otay Mesa) -- State Route 905, a newly-built highway designed to accommodate the growing volume of trucks carrying goods between the United States and Mexico, will open to motorists July 30. A grand opening celebration was held today on the freeway that connects the Otay Mesa Port of Entry – the only commercial crossing between San Diego and Tijuana – to the rest of the highway system.
