March 15, 2013 (San Diego)--All next week, San Diego State University's Associated Students will host GreenFest, a week-long festival that educates the campus community about sustainability, while promoting school spirit. GROSSMONT CENTER HOSTS FREE HOLIDAY FESTIVAL DECEMBER 8

Fun includes horse-drawn wagon rides,  caroling and prize drawings for 

December 2, 2012 (La Mesa) – Grossmont Center in La Mesa invites the public to a free holiday festival on Saturday, December 8. Horse-drawn wagon rides will be available free from 1-3 p.m. Christmas caroling will be held from 1-4 p.m. at the mall’s Christmas tree.  Other fun activities include ornament decorating, kids crafts, min-fire truck rides, face painting, balloons, and refreshements.

THE OPERA, CARMEN TO BE PERFORMED AT LAS PLAYAS ARENA ON AUG 30 AND SEPT 1

August 28. 2012 (Tijuana) -- One of the most famous operas in the world, Carmen, by George Bizet will be performed in Tijuana, Mexico at the Playas de Tijuana inside the rodeo arena on August 30, and September 1 at 8:00 p.m. The opera is sponsored by Tijuana's Municipal Institute of Art and Culture (IMAC) and Mexico’s National Council for Culture and the Arts.
 
The event is being  held as part of the celebrations organized to commemorate the anniversary of the founding CXXIII city of Tijuana.

CUYAMACA COLLEGE’S COYOTE MUSIC FESTIVAL LEAPS ON STAGE MAY 5

 
Free event put on by students as term project showcasing nine Southern California bands

May 2, 2012 (El Cajon) --A free music festival that is the culmination of a Cuyamaca College course on the music industry will feature nine bands rocking at the grand lawn at the Rancho San Diego college from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 5.

Now in its fourth year, the Cuyamaca College Coyote Music Festival is the end result of a semester-length project of students in the Music Industry Studies program.

EAST COUNTY ARTISTS FEATURED AT “ARTWALK” FESTIVAL APRIL 28 IN LITTLE ITALY

April 20, 2012 (San Diego) -- San Diego’s original fine art festival, Mission Federal ArtWalk is back for its 28th year. Featuring artists who live in the East County area as well as San Diego, the event will be held on Saturday and Sunday , April 28 and 29, when 17 blocks of Little Italy will be transformed for this free festival. ArtWalk offers a unique opportunity for members of the public to engage directly with over 350 artists who will be there to display their original works for exhibit and sale. The art on display will include a wide range of paintings, sculpture, mosaics, glasswork and photography.

January 26, 2012 (San Diego)--The San Diego Public Library hosts the 46th Annual Authors Exhibition at the downtown library throughout the month of February. The Local Author Exhibit highlights the intellectual and creative accomplishments of writers in the San Diego region, and I am fortunate to be included among those. The aim of the exhibit is to bring exposure to local talent and to nurture the pursuit of the writing arts in San Diego.

ON THE PROWL: ALLEY CAT SUMMER FEST JULY 9

 

 

July 5, 2010 (El Cajon) – On Friday, July 9th, fans of art, music, wine and classic cars will be prowling the streets of downtown El Cajon for the 5th annual Alley Cat Summer Fest. The event, which many consider to be the “cat’s meow,” is presented by St. Madeleine Sophie’s Center to benefit Sophie’s Art Gallery, creating opportunities for artists with developmental disabilities.
