OLÉ! FAMED ROMEROS FAMILY IN CONCERT APRIL 12 IN POWAY

 

April 7, 2015 (Poway)--Three generations of the famous Romeros family will perform a guitar music concert on Sunday, April 12 at 2 p.m. in the Poway Center for the Performing Arts. 

Known as the “masters of the guitar,” the Romeros have performed for dignitaries around the world, including the President of the United States, his Royal Majesty of Spain and Pope John Paul II at the Vatican.

SAN DIEGO EARLY MUSIC SOCIETY PRESENTS BAROQUE CONCERT APRIL 9

April 7, 2015 (El Cajon) – Members of the San Diego Early Music Society (SDEMS) will be performing baroque concertos for harp, mandolin and flute at Cuyamaca College’s Performing Arts Center on Thursday, April 9 at 7:30 p.m. The program will hear is comprised of concerti of Vivaldi, Telemann, Durante, Corelli and Handel for various combinations of soloists.

“SDEMS members asked for a return visit by Concerto Koeln, and we’re only too happy to comply,” said president Mark Lester. “We’re delighted to be able to bring such an accomplished and widely recognized performing group to our newest venue in East County.”

SD FESTIVAL CHORUS & ORCHESTRA PRESENTS “TWO FOR THE SHOW” MAY 3

April 5, 2015 (San Diego) – The San Diego Festival Chorus and Orchestra will present “Two for the Show” on Sunday, May 3rd at 3 p.m. at College Avenue Baptist Church (4747 College Avenue, San Diego). 

The concert features two major choral works:  Gioacchino Rossini’s “Stabat Mater” and John Rutter’s “Feel the Spirit.”  The performers include a 90-voice chorus and soloists as well as a 48-piece symphony orchestra .

BACK IN THE SADDLE: LAKESIDE RODEO KICKS OFF APRIL 17-19

 

 

 

 

April 5, 2015 (Lakeside) – The Lakeside Rodeo has been an annual tradition in Lakeside for the past 51 years. 

This year’s event features Western-style entertainment and events that include bronc riding, barrel racing, steer wrestling, roping competitions, bull riding, and for youngsters, stick horse riding.

World champion trick roper Rider Keisner will be performing, In addition, the  Budweiser Clydesdale horses will also make an appearance at some (though not all) rodeo performances, with public viewings also scheduled.

FIVE CHOICES DREAM DRAWING TO BENEFIT HERITAGE OF THE AMERICAS MUSEUM

 

March 31, 2015 (Rancho San Diego)--In conjunction with the Spring Garden Festival at Cuyamaca College, the Heritage of the Americas Museum holds a very special drawing each year,  the "Five-Choices Dream Drawing."  The drawing will take place at the museum on Saturday, April 25, at 2:00 p.m.  The prizes represent the four wings of the Museum:  Natural History, Archaeology, Anthropology, and Art, ranging from pre-Columbian artifacts to a carved amethyst and quartz swan.

CAJON CLASSIC CRUISES: SEASON OPENS APRIL 22

 

March 24, 2015 (El Cajon) – Get ready to rev up – Cajon Classic Cruises is rolling out its 2015 season starting Wednesday, April 22nd with a full street closure for opening night.  The cruises will continue all summer long on Wednesday nights from 5 to 8 p.m.

The second week, April 29th will celebrate Cinco de Mayo.  Other  highlights include Jimmie Johnson night on July 22nd , a Military Tribute June 17th, Thunder on Main on September 30th, and Trunk or Treat on October 28th at season’s end.

March 18, 2015 (La Mesa) -- Cheers for Baseball Americana! On April 2, baseball fans can savor the exquisite flavors of San Pasqual Winery’s selection of hand-crafted wines while listening to baseball’s most famous readings.

Who’s on First? That would be Write Out Loud founders Walter Ritter and Veronica Murphy, and the evening’s host, La Mesa Mayor Mark Arapostathis.

This La Mesa Arts Alliance event will begin with no-host wine bar reception at 6:30 p.m., and a curtain time of 7:00 p.m. Admission is free, but seating is limited.

This talented musical group has its roots in La Mesa and will be performing its 26th annual Springtime Classics concert on April 17th at 7 p.m.  Kroc Center.  The event will feature a wide range of music, from Sousa marches to classical works of Verdi, Wagner, and a world premier piece performed by the San Diego Clarinet Quartet.

SPRING BREAK ART CAMP ON MT. HELIX

 

March 17, 2016 (Mt. Helix)-- Following a successful fall run, Art Smarts and Mt. Helix Park are partnering up again this spring to bring a one-of-a-kind kids’ art camp to East County. From March 30 through April 3, Art Smarts, which hosts after-school art programs throughout San Diego, will be offering Art In The Park - at Mt. Helix Park for kids ages 5 to 12.

In celebration of Memorial Day weekend, there will also be a tribute to our veterans. This free event will be held at Riverview Parkway and Town Center Parkway in Santee.

March 7, 2015 (Mt. Helix) – An annual tradition held for nearly a century, Sunrise Easter services are held atop Mt. Helix in an east-facing amphitheater crowned by a large cross. This year, Foothills United Methodist Church in La Mesa will host the free service.
