July 28, 2016 (Philadelphia) – President Barack Obama delivered a rousing speech to cap off day three of the Democratic National Convention, citing accomplishments of his administration, praising Hillary Clinton as the most qualified candidate for the presidency, and criticizing Republican nominee Donald Trump as unqualified, lacking plans to solve America’s problems, and a dangerous demagogue who would jeopardize international relations and national security.

TRUMP URGES RUSSIAN GOVERNMENT TO STEAL CLASSIFIED INTELLIGENCE NECESSARY TO HELP HIM BEAT CLINTON

Reprinted with permission from The Moderate Voice, ,a member of the San Diego Online News Association (SDONA)

July 28, 2016 (Washington D.C.) - Republican Presidential nominee Donald Trump is now cheering on and encouraging hacking by Russian hackers increasingly — and strongly — believed by experts to be working for the Russian government to undermine Democratic Presidential nominee Hillary Clinton. Trump’s own running mate Sen. Mike Pence is distancing himself from Trump, but I’m betting Sean, Rush, and many conservative Internet writers will not repudiate it but a)defend it, b)try to change the subject, c)do a mixture of defense and changing the subject.

It’s a unique moment in American political history: the nominee of a political party cheering on hackers to not just hack into the Democratic National Committee’s emails, but into a former Secretary of State’s private emails written when she was Secretary of State.

What was that old conservative book? “None Dare Call it Treason.” This is NOT from The Onion:

Electricity supplies statewide are expected to be tight because of high summer temperatures driving up demand, power plant outages, and transmission line import capacity reductions. Power imports may be limited today because of high temperatures in neighboring states.

Consumers are urged to conserve electricity today, especially during the late afternoon when air conditioners push power consumption to the highest point of the day.

PETITION LAUNCHED TO SAVE EAST COUNTY LAKES--AND PROTECT LIVES DURING WILDFIRES

By Miriam Raftery

July 26, 2016 (Lake Morena) – An online petition has been launched asking the City of San Diego to stop draining Lake Morena and Barrett Lake. Rural residents seek help from San Diego residents and all who are concerned about wildlife or the prospect of a devastating firestorm to sign the petition.

The petition, posted by Campo resident Karen Noblitt-McIntyre, accuses San Diego officials of ignoring public safety, noting that two residents died during the recent Border Fire. Firefighting aircraft were diverted to water sources farther away due to lack of water in these lakes, witnesses stated in recent public meetings.

The petition states that the city has put wildlife and rural communities at risk, also failing to live up to its promise to repair the dam at Lake Morena. The city drained Lake Morena to less than 3% of capacity and Barrett Lake to below 6% of capacity, public records indicate.  Although San Diego claimed it needed drinking water during the drought, the city did not ask its residents to conserve water before draining East County’s lakes.  The water was pumped to Otay reservoir, which overfilled when rain fell, so the city dumped the precious water supply into the ocean.

CLINTON WINS DEMOCRATIC NOMINATION IN CONVENTION TOUTING HOPE AND UNITY

By Jonathan Goetz

Whereas last week’s Republican National Convention opened with victims of crimes committed by undocumented Americans speaking out and sparking fear, the Democratic National Convention opened this week with stories of triumph and hope, touting strength through unity instead of divisive policies.

Democratic delegates also made history, shattering the glass ceiling as they nominated Hillary Clinton to be the first woman heading up a major party ticket for the presidency.
