March 19, 2015 (Sacramento) -- It’s official – the state’s Water Resources Control Board on Tuesday voted to impose water limits statewide to conserve water during the ongoing drought, the Sacramento Bee reports.

CHEERS FOR BASEBALL AMERICANA!

March 18, 2015 (La Mesa) -- Cheers for Baseball Americana! On April 2, baseball fans can savor the exquisite flavors of San Pasqual Winery’s selection of hand-crafted wines while listening to baseball’s most famous readings.

Who’s on First? That would be Write Out Loud founders Walter Ritter and Veronica Murphy, and the evening’s host, La Mesa Mayor Mark Arapostathis.

This La Mesa Arts Alliance event will begin with no-host wine bar reception at 6:30 p.m., and a curtain time of 7:00 p.m. Admission is free, but seating is limited.

FIREFIGHTERS DOUSE CAR PORT FIRE IN LA MESA

March 16, 2015 (La Mesa)--Heartland Fire & Rescue crews from La Mesa, with assistance from San Diego Fire, were dispatched to reports of a car fire in the 7900 block of La Mesa Blvd Saturday night.  The call was quickly upgraded to a residential structure fire after dispatch received multiple cars of a fire.

SPRING BREAK ART CAMP ON MT. HELIX

 

March 17, 2016 (Mt. Helix)-- Following a successful fall run, Art Smarts and Mt. Helix Park are partnering up again this spring to bring a one-of-a-kind kids’ art camp to East County. From March 30 through April 3, Art Smarts, which hosts after-school art programs throughout San Diego, will be offering Art In The Park - at Mt. Helix Park for kids ages 5 to 12.

GANG CONSPIRACY CHARGES DROPPED IN CONTROVERSIAL CASES

March 16, 2015 (San Diego)—Earlier this week, we reported on controversial gang conspiracy charges filed by San Diego District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis against men who were accused of benefiting off crimes that they were not accused of committing. Specifically, those crimes included nine shootings committed by the Lincoln Park gang.  The American Civil Liberties Union had challenged the charges on constitutional grounds in an amicus, or friends of the court, brief.
