April 29, 2015 (Jacumba Hot Springs)--The Jacumba Arts Council presents the fourth annual Blues Fest this Saturday, May 2nd from 2-7 p.m.  After 7 p.m. there will be a 'monster jam'. The event is sponsored by the Jacumba Hot Springs Spa & Resort and will take place at the Jacumba Hot Springs Spa located on Old Highway 80.  Admission is free, non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks will be available for purchase along with delicious varieties of barbeque.

April 25, 2015 (San Diego’s East County) –The Wall That Heals, a traveling replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington D.C., is coming to San Diego April 25-30^th, with connections planned in East County.

April 19, 2015 (Ramona) – You’re invited to East County Magazine’s Spanish Fiesta celebration on Sunday, April 26^th from 12-2 p.m. at the beautiful Hacienda de las Rosas Winery in Ramona!

April 21, 2015 (El Cajon)-- Something is brewing at Sycuan Casino. The entertainment and gaming destination has partnered with one of San Diego’s favorite beer makers, AleSmith Brewing Company, to create an exclusive four-course Brewer’s Dinner. The event will take place on Tuesday, April 28^th beginning at 6:30p.m. at the casino’s popular GameDay Sports Bar & Grill and will feature delicious craft beer and custom dishes made specially for the event.

April 19, 2015 (San Diego's East County) - The 9^th annual Campo-Lake Morena Roundup is set to be held on Saturday, May 2^nd at the Camp Lockett Event and Equesterian Facility (799 Forrest Gate Rd.) in Campo. Gates open at 7 a.m. with opening ceremonies at 9 a.m. and presentation of this year’s grand marshall at 10 a.m. Period costumes are welcome.

April 19, 2015 (Ramona) –Vineyard Grant James in Ramona announces a series of events. Whether your tastes run to a winemakers’ dinner to a mother’s day weekend with flowers and chocolates for Mom, you’ll find plenty to savor. The winery also offers a yoga and writing regreat, gourmet foodie potluck, a fundraiser for Ramona high school and a summer of sangria kick-off at the winery, as well as several events off-site.  In addition, Grant James has live music every Sunday afternoon.

April 15, 2015 (Lakeside)--The 50^th annual Lakeside Western Days Parade will roll out on Saturday, April 18^th starting at 9:30 a.m. down Lakeside’s Maine Street.   This year’s theme is “There’s no place like home” and the grand marshal is Gita Morena, granddaughter of L. Frank Baum, author of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.

April 14, 2015 (San Diego’s East County) --This week’s Destination East County includes Lakeside’s Western Days parade and rodeo, a harp concert at  Mission Trails and Fun with Physics in La Mesa.   We’ll also have a preview of coming attractions including a spring garden festival, garden tours, a concert at the Desert View Tower, and Vintage Alpine, a wine tasting experience in the country. April 12, 2015 (El Cajon)--The Water Conservation Garden invites the public to its second-annual Butterfly Festival for an exciting program of activities that will engage all ages with butterflies on Saturday, May 9^th from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.  The event highlights the important role that these insects play in our ecosystem and how visitors can attract and support butterflies in their home gardens using drought-tolerant plants.  Activities include:

April 9, 2015 (Lakeside) – A two-hour guided hike at the Lakeside River Park will be held on Saturday, April 11 from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. to learn about birds of the San Diego River. Gail Sabbadini will lead the hike, identifying both year-round and migratory species.

April 10, 2015 (Alpine) – The 25^th annual Vintage Alpine on Sunday May 3^rd from 1 to 4 p.m. at Summers Past Farms in Flinn Springs will feature tastings of 40 wines plus foods from fine restaurants across our region.  This event attracts over 500 people annually, with all proceeds used to benefit services and programs for the children of San Diego.

This week’s Destination East County includes Sweet Pea Days, the Morning Glory Brunch and Frog Race, a Camel Dairy tour, and the world famous Romeros family guitarists live in concert. April 5, 2015 (Lemon Grove) – The American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life is the world’s largest fundraising event to end cancer. The Lemon Grove Relay for Life event will be held on Sunday, May 16^th starting at 9 a.m. at Lemon Grove Middle School, 7866 Lincoln Avenue.

This occasion unites communities around the world to celebrate people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and take action to finish the fight once and for all. The family-friendly event features food, entertainment, games and activities. Organized teams have members from their teams walk around the track during the entire 24 hours of the event, symbolizing that “cancer never sleeps.”
