BOY INJURED IN LA MESA ROBBERY


April 29, 2011 (La Mesa) --La Mesa Police Officers received a report last night shortly after 8 p.m. of a robbery victim being treated at Grossmont Hospital. Officers responding to the hospital located a 13 year old male victim.  He told police he was walking home on Mills Street near Orchard Avenue when he was attacked from behind.

DUI STAKEOUT LEADS TO ARREST IN LA MESA

 

April 18, 2011 (La Mesa)--La Mesa Police Department in conjunction with the San Diego County Probation Department conducted a Probation Stakeout Operation today.  This operation resulted in one arrest for a woman violating terms of her DUI (driving under the influence) probation.

 

The Probation Department identified 16 subjects, all on Court Ordered Probation and living in La Mesa. They are considered the “worst of the worst” of the DUI offenders. One of their probation conditions is “no alcohol” what so ever, at any time.

TEEN BEATEN, ROBBED ON TROLLEY IN LA MESA

 

 

April 5, 2011 (La Mesa)  At 8:30 a.m. today, a 14-year-old boy was punched in the face three times and his necklace and hat were taken by two suspects aboard a trolley in La Mesa. The robbery occurred while the victim and suspects were riding eastbound on the MTS Trolley between the Spring Street and La Mesa Boulevard stations.

FATHER ARRESTED FOR SOLICITING MURDER OF DAUGHTER’S BOYFRIEND, A CONVICTED SEX OFFENDER

 

March 25, 2011 (La Mesa) La Mesa Police Department today arrested Domingos Oliveira, 50, of Spring Valley for soliciting the murder of his 19 year-old daughter’s boyfriend. Police were notified by the suspect’s daughter and boyfriend, after several posters had been placed on the campus of Grossmont College within the past two weeks.

MASKED SUSPECTS SMASH, ROB I-POD KIOSK AT GROSSMONT CENTER; FLEE IN TAN SEDAN

 

March 22, 2011 (La Mesa)--At 2:35 p.m., three masked suspects smashed the I-Pod liosk display counter at Grossmont Center and stole  electronic items. The suspects are described as either black or Hispanic males.

POLICE SEEK SUSPECTS IN MAROON ULTIMA WHO ROBBED 95-YEAR-OLD WOMAN IN LA MESA

 

March 22, 2011 (La Mesa) – A witness who saw a 95-year-old woman knocked to the ground in a robbery this evening chased two suspects, La Mesa Police report. Police are seeking two suspects in a maroon 2000-2004 Nissan Ultima 4-door vehicle.

January 27, 2011 (La Mesa) – A woman walking to her car in the Wal-Mart parking lot at Grossmont Center had her purse stolen last night around 6:30 p.m.The victim was approached from behind by the suspect, who grabbed the purse by the strap and attempted to flee. The victim tried unsuccessfully to hold onto her puse, twisting her lower back during the struggle.

LA MESA ANNOUNCES WARRANT SWEEP FOR DUI OFFENDERS MONDAY

 

January 21, 2011 (La Mesa)-- Many who get caught drinking and driving are under the impression that if they simply avoid the court system, the whole thing might fade away. Not in La Mesa, where police have issued a press release titled “You can run, but you can’t hide.”

 

La Mesa Police will be hot on the tails of the DUI (driving under the influence) offenders, with sweeps targeting those who either failed to show up for a court date or violated terms of their probation in a DUI case. On Monday, January 24, officers will deploy throughout the city to residences and places of business to clear court warrants on the books for the past year.

OVER 40 GUNS SEIZED AT HOME OF MAN WHO TRIGGERED WARNINGS AT HELIX HIGH


January 20, 2011 (La Mesa) – Police confiscated an arsenal of weapons from the home of David Schreiner, whose phone call to police about a shooting at Helix High School promoted authorities to secure the campus January 14th. Search warrant records obtained by ECM news partner 10 News indicate that authorities seized 40 rifles, pistols, shotguns and muskets as well as six knives, a dagger, a tomahawk, a hatchet, a machete, a leather sap, and a camouflage ballistic vest.

BANK ROBBED AT GROSSMONT CENTER

 

January 19, 2011 (La Mesa)-- La Mesa Police responded at 9:09 a.m. to a robbery at Bank of the West, 8690 Grossmont Center Drive, La Mesa. The suspect handed a teller a demand note but did not display a weapon.  He stole an undetermined amount of cash and walked out of the bank towards the Target store.  The suspect is described as a black male adult in his thirties, about 5’10” 160 lbs., wearing a black baseball cap, black leather jacket, black shirt, and black pants.  He may have had a goatee and a witness may have seen him driving away in a black sedan.

January 14, 2011 (La Mesa) – This morning, the El Cajon Police Department received a call from an unidentified man at his residence in El Cajon. He made a vague comment about a shooting at Helix High School in La Mesa, then hung up upon being questioned by the dispatcher. El Cajon Police and La Mesa Police gathered information about the suspect to assess what was believed to be a potential threat.

BEER RUN TURNS SOUR

 

January 3, 2011 (La Mesa) – Yesterday around 4:52 p.m., La Mesa Police received a report of a beer run at the Eastridge Liquor Store, 7705 University Ave. Two white male juveniles and black male entered the store and allegedly concealed beer in a backpack. As they were trying to leave the store, the manager confronted them and attempted to detain the trio until police arrived. The suspects resisted and fought with the manager.

PEDESTRIAN KILLED, LA MESA RESIDENT ARRESTED FOR DRUNK DRIVING

 

 

January 1, 2011 (La Mesa) Updated 8 p.m.– Dana Lohner, 48, of La Mesa has been arrested on suspicion of drunk driving after she struck and killed Kelly McPherson, 53, a pedestrian from Mission Valley.  McPherson died at the scene.  

 

Lohner, who was driving a Ford Mustang was booked into the Las Colinas Jail.

December 22, 2010 (La Mesa) – La Mesa Police are seeking a suspect who attacked a woman, 30, this evening in Aztec Park at 5400 Aztec Drive. The attack was reported at 6:19 p.m. The woman was walking her dog in the southeast area of the park when she was grabbed from behind and hit on the right side of her head.

December 21, 2010 (La Mesa)—La Mesa Police Department responded to a robbery near the Jack in the Box restaurant located at 6987 University Av., La Mesa around 5:20 p.m. today. According to police, three juveniles approached a 16-year-old and demanded his cell phone. One suspect grabbed the victim’s phone while the other two kicked and punched him. The victim had abrasions and some bruising from the incident.

DRIVER HITS TWO TREES, SENDS ENGINE FLYING IN LA MESA

December 18, 2010 (La Mesa) – A driver lost control of his vehicle on a rain-slicked roadway in the 5800 block of Lake Murray Blvd. at 1:15 this morning. The vehicle, which was traveling southbound, struck a large tree on the center median, then spun out of control and hit another tree. The force of the impact dislodged the engine and transmission. The engine was fond in the driveway of a home about 25 yards away.

November 23, 2010 (La Mesa) – A 17-year-old has been arrested after attempting to rob the Yum-Yum Doughnut store for the second day in a row.

 

Yesterday 10:50 a.m., the teen stole a tip-jar from the store at 7550 El Cajon Blvd. According to La Mesa Police, he told the employee that he was sorry, but had no money and needed the cash. The employee and suspect struggled briefly over the tip jar, which contained about $10.

October 15, 2010 (La Mesa) -- Warner Graves, 47 of San Diego turned himself in and was arrested for a string of commercial robberies after someone close to him saw his photo in a news release identifying him as a suspect.

 

 La Mesa Police sought public help to solve several robberies of business committed October 11 in the area of Fletcher Parkway and Jackson Drive.

SKATEBOARDER BEATEN AND ROBBED IN LA MESA

 

August 16, 2010 (La Mesa) – Five men beat and robbed a male victim who was walking near 7900 La Mesa Boulevard Saturday at 1:46 a.m. The assailants, all described as black male adults 18-20 years old, stole and victim’s skateboard and wallet. The victim was knocked to the ground, punched and kicked.

The suspects were last seen entering two white vehicles, one possibly a Toyota Camry, heading toward University Avenue.

Police seek additional victims of scamster who answered ads and stole victims' IPads

July 28, 2010 (San Diego’s East County) – Jesus Sanchez of Santee was arrested yesterday by La Mesa Police for grand theft and robbery after a month long investigation into a Craig’s List scam involving I-Pads. Sanchez turned himself in after police detectives served a search warrant on his house in the 9300 block of Nalini Court, Santee.

LA MESA POLICE ARREST 2 ROBBERS; 3RD REMAINS AT LARGE

 

July 10, 2010 (La Mesa)—La Mesa Police have arrested two juveniles for stealing a woman’s wallet in front of the Von’s store at 9011 University Avenue. A third suspect remains at large.

 

Police received a call reporting the robbery at 8:21 p.m. The 21 year-old victim was in the Vons parking lot when the three suspects approached her from behind. One grabbed the victim’s wallet and forcibly took it. All three suspects ran away while witnesses chased them.
